Le son vient du livre sonore lu par frottement de micro. Rythme, mixage immédiat et surimpression sonore. Les fragments percutés en boucle s'ingurgitent en affaissements successifs. Voix, rythme, sémantique aspirés dans la machine cassent les opérations encodées et abolissent la dialectique machiniste. En densité se construit un hybride générateur de sons inédits, un organe insoupçonné prolongé dans le magnét lui-même réactivé dans la tension du corps.

Arcand est un grand performeur; il marie sa voix, ses objets, ses techniques et ses larsens à un souffle épique qui connaît les distances du voir et de l'écoute; jamais de lassitude à chacune de ses participations scéniques. Il possède le sens de la durée, avec l'évidence de sa présence pour le public.

he lives and works in quebec.
he is a poet, a sound artist and a performance and voice researcher.
his artistic work comes from many different sources and reaches many different directions. he works in multimedia by mixing voice, guttural work, visual poetry, animation and sound experimentation. 
between 1978 and 1981, he was part of the inter/le lieu group in quebec, with whom he organised exhibitions, creative activities and editions. in 1993 he co-founded avatar, a group of artists who work with electronic and sound art; they have a research studio and a record label, ohm.
he works on the borderlines of sound and language, transformed by the macchina ricordi, an "a-sound evolution generator", conceived by himself in avatar. from variable bucles, delays and superimpositions, his pieces become a permanent changing sound continuum captured in real timing. when performing, he simultaneously works with audio and video supports, always helped by his device, the macchina ricordi and its manipulative possibilities. 
nowadays his work is focused on art and sound poetry. he has presented it in canada, the united states and europe. as an interdisciplinary artist, he produces objects, books, phonograms, visual poetry -writing and text as images, copy-art and installations. he has published in the following magazines: Inter, doc(k)s, baobab, rampike, and estuaire. he has edited more than 7 albums on his own, with record labels like obz, ohm and generator.
undoubtedly he is one of the most polyhedric and interdisciplinary artists and one of the best representatives of modern sound poetry in canada, together with artists like paul dutton, nobuo kubota (who attended PROPOSTA 2001) and mark sutherland.
