AMÉRICO RODRIGUES

Nascut a Guarda (Portugal) el 1961, és animador i programador d’esdeveniments culturals. Actualment és també professor d’un curs de "Lingua e Cultura Portuguesas" a la Universidade da Beira Interior (Portugal). Des de 1979, moment en què treballà amb l’actriu Catherine Dasté a París, s’ha dedicat al treball experimental amb la veu. És actor i director del grup de teatre Aquilo així com autor de diversos llibres i poemes-objecte. Així mateix desenvolupa un treball continu d’improvisació vocal per a teatre, música, poesia, dansa i performance. Més enllà de la veu també utilitza objectes diversos per explorar nous sons, com ara botzines, cornetes de plàstic…
Recentment ha realitzat una sèrie de presentacions al Brasil en el marc del Cicle Internacional de Poesia Sonora (Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte i Maceió).

Born in Guarda (Portugal) in 1961, he organizes cultural events and he’s also lecturer on Portuguese language and culture at the University of Beira Interior (Portugal). In 1979 he worked with the great actress Catherine Dasté and he’s devoted himself to experimental work with voice eversince. He’s actor and director of Aquilo theatre company as well as author of several books and object-poems. Likewise he carries out a non-stop work on sound imporovisation for theatre, music, poetry, dance and performance. Beyond voice he also uses different objects in order to explore new sounds such as trumpets, plastic bugles…
Recently he’s been in several presentations in Brazil with regard to the International Sound Poetry Cycle (Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Maceió).
